The course aims at presenting the traditional judicial mechanisms for the pacific settlement of disputes between States, namely arbitration and the International Court of Justice. Based on international practice, the following issues shall be dealt with in particular: consent to arbitral or judicial jurisdiction, jurisdiction of the judicial body and admissibility of claims, conduct of proceedings, incidental proceedings, judicial decision and the contribution of international justice to the development of international law.
