International and European protection of human rights
Sources of international and european law of human rights ; international and regional protection mechanisms ; international and European courts ; right to life ; prohibition of slavery ; right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion ; right to a fair trial ; derogation and limitation of human rights
The aim of this course is to study the protection of human rights on the international and European forefronts according to two levels of analysis: it is not only questioning the theoretical aspects of this protection of human rights through its main instruments and the various competent judges; but it is also with regard to the material aspects of this protection through the guaranteed rights and the related jurisprudence. In addition to the UN system, a special attention is paid to the European system (Council of Europe and European Union).

At the end of this course, the student must:
- master the legal rules of international and European human rights law (in particular the procedure before the European Court of Human Rights);
- analyze and comment on legal bases, jurisprudence and on the protection of human rights doctrine
- know the research tools and the sources of international and European human rights law mapping
- have theoretical and practical knowledge that can be restored in a professional or academic situation.
